Ariadne

Princess Ariadne was the daughter of Queen Pasiphae and King Minos. She was also the granddaughter of Helios, the sun god. When the Athenian hero Theseus came to her kingdom, she fell in love with him. When he had to face the Minotaur in the Labyrinth, she used gold thread to show him the way out. They escaped Crete together, but Theseus abandoned her at Naxos. There she was rescued by the god Dionysus, whom she ended up marrying. There is a version of her story where she died at Naxos, but then Dionysus brought her to Olympus to be deified.
